Welcome to the Department of Railway Operation System Engineering at Korea National University of Transportation.
Inheriting the legacy of the Department of Railway Operation and Electrical Engineering at the former Korea Railroad College, our department shares the university's proud 110-year history. We have continuously contributed to the advancement of the national railway industry, and our numerous alumni now play pivotal roles across domestic railway operations and management.
In close collaboration with key industry partners such as the KORAIL Human Resources Development Center, the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI), and Hyundai Rotem, we provide field-oriented education. Backed by passionate faculty and the nation's most extensive practical training facilities for train drivers and traffic controllers, we strive to build a solid foundation for our students to advance into various fields, including train driving, operation planning, traffic control, and safety management.
To foster leading experts rather than simple technicians, our curriculum emphasizes foundational sciences such as physics and mathematics, alongside electrical and mechanical engineering. Notably, students who meet the physical requirements (per the Railway Safety Act) can acquire both a train driver's license and a railway traffic controller certificate during their regular studies, without needing to take a leave of absence.
As railways emerge as a vital eco-friendly transportation mode, we are committed to nurturing proactive professionals who will lead the future. We hope you will experience the spirit of relentless challenge and intellectual freedom inherited from our predecessors right here in our department.
